would suggest getting an opinion from Dr. Douglas Evans at the Medical College of Wisconsin/Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. He is one of the nation's leading pancreatic cancer surgeons and has extensive experience with complex pancreatic operations involving the portal vein and superior mesenteric vein, including vascular resection and reconstruction when needed.

Even if you've already been told you're not a surgical candidate, it can be worthwhile to have your scans reviewed by a high-volume pancreatic surgeon. Different surgeons have different levels of experience with complex cases, and another opinion may identify options that weren't previously considered.

A second opinion doesn't mean you're questioning your current doctor—it means you're making sure every possible treatment option has been explored.

If you have a confirmed NET diagnosis, consider seeking out a surgeon who has experience with NETs. A couple of possibilities are Dr Liu at Denver, CO

If you are considering going to the Froedtert/Medical College of Wisconsin, I would recommend Dr. Callisia Clarke, Chief of Surgical Oncology.
Dr. Clarke is experienced in surgical removal of NETs in the mesentery. I had a complicated case involving removal of the terminal ileum, the ileocecal valve, the ileocecal artery, and part of the large intestine. So it involved reconfiguring the arterial blood supply to the intestine. She knows NETs. When my case was referred to the Cancer Center at Froedtert/Medical College of Wisconsin, she was selected as the best match for my case.
Dr. Clarke also surgically removed the mesentery NETs of a family member. Yes, it runs in my family to our surprise.
I would also consider Mayo Clinic as a source of NET specialists. There are locations in Rochester, Minnesota, Jacksonville, Florida and Phoenix, Arizona. These physicians care for many more NET patients than Froedtert/Medical College of Wisconsin. I have switched my continued care to Mayo because of their experience with NETs and their range of treatment options. I was lucky that Dr. Clarke was available locally when I needed to move quickly.

I have switched doctors based on the changes in my situation. I would suggest letting the Mayo experts find the best match for each person's needs.

I feel good.
I deal with the issues from missing digestive parts as well as food sensitivities and adhesions that led to several bowel obstructions. I have adjusted to my limited diet.
I also had 2 hip replacements during my cancer diagnosis that also added to the stress. But I have been through it all and am doing well. I can return to a regular walking schedule again because of my formerly troubled hips. What a help that is for me.
