Radioembolization for liver tumors from NETS

I am going to undergo a procedure,TARE,trans arterial radioembolization, for pNets metastasis to liver. Anyone else had this procedure?

Yes. It was very effective in getting rid of the largest tumor that was not responding to treatment. What would you like to know. Its not painful. I was lightly sedated.

My husband had it done in 2013. 50% of his liver was covered in tumors and radioembolization killed almost all of them. What was left remained stable for 10 years.

Yes. It was very effective in getting rid of the largest tumor that was not responding to treatment. What would you like to know. Its not painful. I was lightly sedated.

Is there a limit to how many tumors can be treated with this treatment? I have over 50 tumors in my liver, but most are under 1cm. I just completed PRRT and I am hoping the small tumors shrink and/or die. I am feeling really good and optimistic about the outcome. I only have 5 tumors larger than 1cm, the largest is 5cm. I’m hoping that if the larger tumors continue to grow they can be treated by a targeted therapy. Any thoughts?

@espelandmt2 That is a gteat question. I do knpw tjat each ablation leaves a hole where the tumor was, so size amd location matter. Its a good discussion to have with your provider. I had 6 rounds of PRRT. Then lanriotide. Then Captem. Now Everolimus. One ablation in there. The tumor had grown pretty large. Talk with your oncologist...i don't want to get out over my skiis. My husband's liver was 50% tumor when he had radioembolization and it was wildly successful.

@sophiarose The results were good. But after 9 months the tumors started to grow again so we had to try another treatment.

@lu7 Sorry to hear that. So you then continued with your other treatments of lanreotide, Captem and Everolimus with the one ablation?
