REMS scan in Minneapolis area?
I was recently diagnosed via DEXA with severe op. I'm interested in getting a REMS scan as another data point in this journey back towards welllness. However, with the exception of OsteoStrong franchises who partner with Precision Bone Imaging, I'm having difficult finding anyone else in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area that does them. I'm willing to drive south to Rochester or west to St. Cloud as options, too.
Is anyone aware of REMS scan services, preferably through a more traditional healthcare facility, in or around the Twin Cities? I don't have anything against OsteoStrong but would like to avoid the ensuing sales pitch to join.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I did check out hypercharge a few days ago but they said they aren't doing scans anymore and referred me to OsteoStrong. Also, truebonedensity also partners with OsteoStrong. Seems like all roads lead back to the same place!
I've had several REMS done at Osteostro, they do them regularly at the different locations. I think there might be one planned at the Osteostrong in Edina this coming week. Go to the Tru Bone Density link given above to schedule.

Thanks for responding. So is it the True Bone Density folks who do the scans in the OsteoStrong facilities? I wasn't sure if OsteoStrong had medical professionals doing the scans so wasn't sure I could trust them. It sounds like you've had a good experience gtting your REMS done there.
@bmblsad The people from TruBone Density do the scans, they are medical professionals for the ultrasounds. It's nice because you get the results right there after the scan and I found them to be very well explained. I liked being able to bring the results to show my doctor.

1 ReactionI did REMS, but not in your state. It was very different from my DEXA. Doctor repeated it free and still different. I did find I could pay out of pocket for DEXA cheaper than REMS, so I am going to do DEXA more often. Since out of pocket, and not using insurance, I can get it as often as I want. I am not sure if I will do every 6 months or every year.
@bmblsad I got a REMS at hypercharge health so that’s very disappointing they aren’t doing them anymore. I wanted to get a follow up after 9 months of Onera. Since you’re in Mpls, I’d like to put in a good reference for Odom Health and Wellness in Eden Prairie. They are the only licensed Onera provider in the state and I’ve been going for 4 months. They are amazing! Let me know if you’re not familiar with Onera and I’ll explain. Just for curiosity, what are your “severe” scores? On Dexa my spine was -3.2, left fem neck -2.1, left hip -1.2. On REMS, spine -3.3, left fem neck-3.0, hip -2.5. So it’s interesting how different they were. Though REMS gave me very good bone architecture (fragility) scores. I’m just frustrated with all the tests. I’m a small person and it’s hard to know what to believe.
@mwallj Great to hear you are happy with Odom. I’ve been considering making an appointment for an assessment. Can you share the cost for the Onera program?
@kshea2 it’s $75 for 1:1 or $60 for 2:1. They are also going to start cheaper group sessions for people who have done some 1:1 or 2:1 and have progressed far enough that their form is good, etc. It’s not cheap, but I consider it an investment in my future and well worth it. The PT’s are fantastic!
