6 Reactions@hdriver Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! Knowing the type of kidney stones you are prone to, is important to figuring out what to do.
Here is an article from Mayo Clinic that you may find helpful: https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/preventing-kidney-stones
Has your medical team been able to give you any good suggestions, besides hydrating well?

4 Reactions@gently I had multiple oxalate kidney stones each year for about 20 years. Lithotripsy, basket removal, lots of painkiller and the whole drill.
One night at a party I mentioned that I had just completed the session of lithotripsy and how uncomfortable I was.
My friend Bill responded. The kidney stones are an optional disease.
In astonishment, I listened to his advice that I had to double or triple my water intake until I was getting up at least once and preferably twice during the night to pee.
I had to constantly drink water during the day and try to drink 2 to 3 large glasses of water with each meal.
If the stones continued, he suggest that I go someplace quiet with a six pack of cold beer and drink the beers until the Stone pass, taking care not to drive or be obnoxious for at least six hours after the last beer.
I believe my stage four kidney disease is partially result of years of kidney Stones blocking the normal passage of urine.
Since I started Bill‘s miracle cure I’ve had several lower back aches, indicating the beginning of kidney stones, but none has progressed to actually having a stone.
Following Bill‘s advice when I had a backache, I immediately drank three or four large glasses of water and the backache went away fairly quickly.
Extra water is unlikely to do any harm so you might try this for a month or so, and you will see, as I did, that you will not have any more stones.
It was too late for me to prevent kidney damage, but I continue to drink large quantities of water to hopefully slow down my loss of kidney function.
I am 81 and haven’t had a stone since I was 40

7 Reactionsstuartbell,
how many in the six pack were left before the stone passed. Extend our thanks to Bill when you see him.
This is encouraging https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/07/260712011753.htm but it doesn't help with the stones.

4 Reactions@gently the first few times I tried the beer cure. It took three or four beers.
I haven’t had a beer in five years.
It takes a while to get your water and take adjusted but my test now is if I don’t get up twice during the night to your date, I’m not drinking enough
