I’m scheduled for knee replacement but read so many negatives ?
Im having full knee replacement very soon and researching I read so many negatives so for all of you who have had it, is it worth it ? I’m definitely concerned that I’ll be worse off by reading so many problems with pain, swelling and movement with knee replacements and maybe one should just put up with what we deal with now than adding pain and swelling into the mix.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

My left leg pulls considerably to the left from knee to toe, the right leg is straight. I have full deformed knee joint as osteoarthritis and left leg has considerably lost muscle mass due to the weak knee.
@dna41
Is it a better surgery ??
@dsmit8
I can’t pick a surgeon or the hospital here in Australia as I’m what they call a public patient not private health. Private Health here for full knee surgery means your Private Health Insurance must be top tier to have full knee replacement surgery with your choice of surgeon and as I can’t work as of the bad knee I have no choice but to be a public patient without any choices on surgeons and hospitals. As a public patient you are a signed the surgeon.
@ddsack
I curious to where you are and what hospital ?
@vincentyu
That’s awesome and I hope I get that same outcome

Thanks for your reply and info. Getting nervous now that’s for sure
@cmd74
It sounds like a slow long recovery which is probably a bit draining on someone’s soul.

Very interesting. Unfortunately if a person can’t work due to the bad knee, means you obviously can’t afford the top tier health insurance here that covers knee replacements so you’re on the public system which is free mind you but yes long wait times, can’t pick the surgeons or hospitals so you’re kinda stuck in this long wait list area so one has to hope the surgeon that has been assigned to you is good.

Nice to read you can enjoy time with the grandkids and pain free.
Thank you for your comment
@andoman Many people love robotic surgery. My only concern is for people with osteoporosis because if it is knee replacement, holes need to be drilled in the bone.
