I had my HoLEP performed one week ago by Dr. Amy Krambeck at Northwestern in Chicago. The procedure itself took about 35 minutes, and I was told my anatomy was favorable with no complications. Approximately 7 grams of tissue were removed, primarily a prominent obstructing median lobe. I was able to void in recovery with low residuals and was discharged the same day without a catheter.

One week after HoLEP, my recovery has been remarkably smooth. I continue to have a very strong, effortless stream with no retention, no infection, and essentially no incontinence. I've had mild intermittent pink urine and a few tiny soft clots, which appear consistent with normal healing. Pain has been minimal and steadily improving. Most importantly, urination has become reflexive again rather than a task. I'm still healing and managing expectations, but at one week I have no regrets whatsoever about undergoing the procedure.

I know I'm still early in the recovery process and expect there will be some ups and downs over the next few weeks as healing continues, but so far I couldn't be happier with my decision and wanted to share a positive early update for anyone who may be considering this procedure.
