Has anyone found a treatment that helps with peripheral neuropathy?

I suspect that everyone on this forum has been searching for a medication that helps their neuropathy and even though you no that all the internet claims are false we continue to waste hundreds of pounds. Desperation is a powerful force. Has any one been fortunate enough to find a genuine treatment. I just can’t believe that there are so many awful people who prey on our vulnerability and knowingly orchestrate such elaborate scams.

I find that daily use of 5% lidocaine on my feet and a consistent program of working out eases the pain somewhat.

@heisenberg34 In my experience, any other pain issues I have (bursitis, arthritis, etc.) are amplified by neuropathy. If those issues can be identified, steroid shots or other localized pain management techniques can be very helpful. My wife has severe lower back pain, and she gets a nerve ablation every six months, which helps a lot. As far as exercise goes, walking a mile or two every day I can works best for me, as I also have exercise resistance and dysautonomia that kick in if I get my heart rate up too much (100+ bpm). If you can't reduce your pain enough while walking to be tolerable, swimming is probably your best option if you have access to a pool. It takes the weight load off your lower back and legs. I have even seen people walking in a pool.

@ronvt Thanks for your response. We do have a pool in our development. I'm not sure that I'm brave enough to show up in my swim suit. I don't want any of the ladies to swoon at the sight of my rippling physique. LOL.

@heisenberg34 There is comfort in numbers. Find some partners in crime to swim with you.

@heisenberg34 Yesterday I finally was able to take a walk outdoors because I am in the mountains for a few weeks and away from my primary home which presently has the third most hazardous air quality in the world because of major fires smoke drifting down over the majority of our state (Minnesota). The walk was short but then I visited our pool and heated hot tub with jets. I allowed the jets to blast my legs from the knees on down to the bottom of my feet. I couldn't stay in too long because the heat really was very painful after a while (IPN bothers me primarily on my ankles and feet). I then went into the pool which cooled off my legs. I did 15 minutes of legs exercises - I was in at 3 ft. deep - from squats to single leg stretching. THE PAYOFF - I had a great nights sleep and, my legs/feet were pain free!!
The morale of this long drawn out story is that for some of us, not all (for numerous reasons) exercise and mobility on a daily basis can do wonders!
