Thyroid Graves Disease: Anyone else?

Hello, I am 62 years old. In 2014 I was diagnosed with Graves disease, my father was type 1 diabetic and my mother always told us that Juvenile diabetes is not genetic what I didnt know is that it was an autoimmune disease and that I had a greater chance of having an autoimmune disease. At the age of 51 after becoming a widow I started losing weight so rapidly while constantly being hungry and eating normally if not more. My PCP ran blood work and diagnosed me sending me to an Endo. I was put on methamazole and propranolol. I also had blood work done throughout. My blood work came back showing abnormal kidney function and I asked my endo was told this is normal while on the medication and once my thyroid hormones are at a normal my kidney blood work will normalize as well. I was also concerned about my eyes. During my illness I couldn't tolerate bright light, and thought my sight was declining. I asked my PCP and she noted that she saw some bulging in one eye. I was sent to an ophthalmologist who examined me and told me I didnt have Graves eye and this was normal aging. In just over a year my Graves went into remission and medication was stopped. I had a physical 6 months later and my PCP told me I had stage 3 Cronic Liver disease. She advised me to stay away from Tylenol and anything that could harm my kidneys.....they did anultrasound on my kidneys and nothing concerning was found. One year later my PCP congratulated me for curing my CKD, LOL....One cannot cure CKD that im aware of and she was lying instead of admitting it was a false positive blood test. I also had my eyes checked again and once again ignored about my concern for Graves eye disease. Two years later I was diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroid disease and told nothing I can do except live a healthy life style and wait until my T3 ect are abnormal. I have osteoarthritis, my sight has become much worse and my joints hurt all the time in addition to intolerance of cold and many other symptoms. I have since returned to work in an effort to have better health insurance and looking for relief and treatment. Much needs to be done in doctors taking these diagnosis seriously and Graves eye disease is real.

I was having stabbing pains and blurred vision and had no idea it could be connected to Graves. I now use XIIDRA eye drops and they have been very effective.

I had eye issues with my thyroid… I was sent to a specialist who fitted my glasses with a special film… it reduced glare from lights made it easier to see….i wore those glasses for about 18 months and then it strangely disappeared and never came back… I had my thyroid removed due to cancer - not found till after surgery but it was contained so I didn’t need any chemo..
Strangely enough, I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer within 5 years which I discovered can happen after cancer found in thyroid…hmmmm

We have some things in common. I just turned 63 and have Graves, type 1 diabetes and thyroid eye disease. Getting a diagnosis for all three was a challenge especially TED. Kept telling me dry eye.
