Vomiting weeks after hiatal hernia surgery. Anyone else? Why?

Posted by gofishto @gofishto, 19 hours ago

June 3rd I had fundiplication hernia along with
Ventral hernia repair and removal of the gallbladder. Last week or so hours after I eat a small I’m throwing up. Anyone going through this any idea why?

@gofishto I am surprised you were not sent home with post-op instructions! Usually they instruct that you try small amounts of liquids, then progress to soft food and solids as you tolerate each stage.

The first 2 weeks liquid diet post op he told me I can add mush foods I did. And said by the 6/24 I can eat regular small I did that’s when problem started. Monday I’m going for ct scan, 7/23 upper endoscopy I’m concerned

CHEW WELL AND EAT SLOWLY. The air coming back up is trying to force back what you're eating. Can you belch or hurl if you need to? You always want a very experienced surgeon for this procedure as some might make things too tight. Fortunately over 25 years I rarely had to do either one. I wish you well.
