Disability
Has anyone been able to get on disability and work part time as as result of their brain injury? Im at the end of my rope. I was laid off almost two years ago I cant prove if they laid off due to my brain injury, whisch causes short tem memory issues and other health issues. Ive applied for over 250 jobs, Im exhausted! I have neuropathy in my foot too, fibromyalgia and mangaged diabetes ( pre brain injury accident), and now depression. I believe in God, but I must admit, Im weary.

Get a lawyer. I spent 10 years trying to get disability benefits and couldn’t get them. Got a lawyer, 3 months later not only did I get disability, I got back pay from the first day I applied!
Do some research, there are many lawyers out there who may want to take advantage of your situation, but there are also many who won’t charge you a penny and be willing to take what Social Security pays them.
Yes I agree get a lawyer. I was laid off right after returning to work, post craniotomy. I can work but like you I have not found anything yet.
Getting approved for disability is a process. For Social Security Disability (SSD) you need to have been disabled for at a minimum of 2 years before you’ll get approved. My injury in 1988 was not operated on until 1990. In that time I did PT, yoga, swimming and anything else I could find to help my back without success. I just didn’t wait around for the 2 years to end. So I was able to show that I was seeking alternate treatment while waiting for the elimination period to end. I received disability on my first attempt. If you’re close to Medicare age you may not get it because Medicare is just around the corner for you. They make it challenging on purpose but the rules and guidelines they must use are public accessible and the more you know about it the better your chances. Hiring a lawyer shouldn’t cost you anything as they are paid only if you are approved.
