Lightheadedness after 4 minor strokes and 1 TIA. Thoughts on why?

Posted by wlb2 @wlb2, 3 days ago

I have CVD and labile blood pressure. Sometimes I had brief lightheadedness with low blood pressure/dehydration that was fixed by drinking water. After 4 minor strokes and 1 TIA in 7 months, I now often have longer lasting lightheadedness (not dizziness) even with high blood pressure. My doctors and I don't know why (heart monitor did not identify a cause.) Any thoughts?

I can relate to your lightheadedness and find that music (singing)is helpful in alleviating symptoms.

@pontiac1961 - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. That is fascinating that you find singing to be helpful in alleviating symptoms of lightheadedness.

Have you experienced a stroke that prompted the lightheadedness you've experienced? If so, will you briefly share what happened?

I don’t know if this is helpful, but I had a stroke last October and I was incredibly lightheaded/dizzy for months afterwards. It gradually subsided. I still get very lightheaded with heat or when I’m not drinking enough.
