OsteoBoston presentations
OsteoBoston has some very useful presentations on osteoporosis. Here are two notifications for your consideration
OsteoBoston Member-what an amazing talk on Tuesday! Maybe you missed it or would like a review. It's a very exciting talk. Here is your video. Link is below and is prior to the description, the chapters and Dr. Wein's biosketch.
Thank you for a lively discussion afterwards!
Our next program is on Tuesday, April 7th when we welcome Lisa Moore, of Brick House Bones. More to follow on that, plus you'll be receiving the podcast of Dr. Wein.

Here is the video link to this talk with Dr. Marc Wein, MD, PHD, https://youtu.be/DtX_lDGohXs
In this program, Dr. Wein, , MD, PHD of Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School will be discussing new treatments under investigation, such as SK-124, as well as existing medications used to treat osteoporosis. These technologies were made possible due to the FDA’s approval of Bone Mass Density being the endpoint goal for new medications based on the SABRE recommendations. Previously, approval was based on incidence of fracture, which prolonged drug releases and delayed/prevented greater research into new medications. This is an exciting change for osteoporosis research. Here is the link to the Wein Laboratory https://www.youtube.com/watch (where some of the latest technology is currently taking place.) 3/2026 Here is a link to an article printed about the new oral medication currently under testing, SK-124 https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/973616. 00:00 Introduction 00:28 Speaker introduction 03:28 Presentations begins 03:52 Consequences of fracture 05:21 Ways to build bones 06:31 Current osteoporosis therapeutic landscape 07:05 Anti-resorptives 08:22 Building new bone with Anabolics 11:07 Innovation in osteoporosis drug development 14:43 Drug creation process 16:48 New development in osteoporosis drug development 19:37 Re-invigorated drug pipeline post-SABRE 23:50 Q&A break 26:11 3rd cell types in bone – osteocytes 28:21 Osteocytes: conductor of the bone remodeling orchestra 29:36 Parathyroid hormone 30:55 Parathyroid hormone actions in bone 33:33 SIK2/SIK3 proteins 39:13 Future osteoporosis therapeutic landscape 41:49 Q&A Dr. Marc Wein is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Member of the Broad Institute. @gravity3 Just weighing in to say I also highly recommend this comprehensive, free program. It's excellent.

2 ReactionsHere's a link to another good presentation by Osteoboston: "How Does Your Gut Help you Create Stronger Bones" with Margaret Stoklosa MS, CNS, LDN
I'm grateful to groups like OsteoBoston! When I was diagnosed I was just given a prescription for a bisphosphonate and told "we'll scan you again in two years. Oh, and use of this drug can cause osteonecrosis of the jaw....don't be afraid of it." WTH? No information on alternatives, no explanation of what my DEXA showed, no information about anything. I was terrified. I had always been very active and now I was afraid I'd break my back just rolling out of bed or tying my shoe. This seems to be the norm. Unfortunately, we as patients have to educate ourselves and there are many charlatans out there peddling snake oils and spreading misinformation. I have found OsteoBoston to be a great resource with reliable information I can use. I'm also grateful for Mayo clinic connect-it helps me to know I'm not alone.

I love OsteoBoston.
@soggybones I am beginning my journey with osteopenia and steroids in the Boston burbs. How does one join Osteo Boston? Is it an online group or are there meetings?
Thanks.
@sassysaveur
Meetings once a month online usually with speaker. All presentations are available on YouTube. Just Google OsteoBoston and I think you will find instructions about joining
