I'm grateful to groups like OsteoBoston! When I was diagnosed I was just given a prescription for a bisphosphonate and told "we'll scan you again in two years. Oh, and use of this drug can cause osteonecrosis of the jaw....don't be afraid of it." WTH? No information on alternatives, no explanation of what my DEXA showed, no information about anything. I was terrified. I had always been very active and now I was afraid I'd break my back just rolling out of bed or tying my shoe. This seems to be the norm. Unfortunately, we as patients have to educate ourselves and there are many charlatans out there peddling snake oils and spreading misinformation. I have found OsteoBoston to be a great resource with reliable information I can use. I'm also grateful for Mayo clinic connect-it helps me to know I'm not alone.

@soggybones
I love OsteoBoston.

@soggybones I am beginning my journey with osteopenia and steroids in the Boston burbs. How does one join Osteo Boston? Is it an online group or are there meetings?
Thanks.
