Tobramycin and a question
I started Tobramycin 5 days ago. I noticed after the first dose that I was unable to cough up any sputum at all. This is a big change as I normally cough up something every day. I am concerned as I know airway clearance is essential with bronchiectasis. I am also using albuterol, saline, and the aerobika. Has anyone else had this happen?

Yes, I took Toby, Saline and albuterol for years and it did help with all the mucus. MY do tor put me on Brinsupri and it does the same thing, barely coughing now, It is a wonderful drug! I have been on it for 4 months and what a difference and it is 1 drug instead of 3 And I do not use any airway clearance devices. IT was a win win for me! I have had BX 20+ years
Yes, I’m experiencing a similar dramatic change with Tobra…. See my earlier post. Pseudomonas is a very tenacious organism, which can mutate, becoming resistant to antibiotics. I’m continuing my vest, exercise and meds, and doing lung clearance to be sure I chase out any lingering infection. The bronchiectasis remains, so the risk of reinfection will always be present. Brinsupri offers the possibility of having a significant effect on the bronchiectasis itself. I may opt for that in the future….
