Interesting findings and studies done on effects of soy isoflavones on RT in prostate and some other cancers. There are many other studies out there but this commentary was the most comprehensive.

Of course, always consult your doctor before using any supplements during RT.

Well, I’m a data point of one, but I eat tofu daily (usually in a breakfast scramble dish) and drink soy milk (i’m allergic to dairy). I’m now 7.5 months post-IMRT for a local recurrence and have no lingering major side effects (so far…). The urge to go perhaps comes on a bit faster than before, but that change in urgency is not enough to cause me any problems. Impossible to say if my diet has been beneficial but it sure hasn’t been detrimental. Good to see studies on the the benefits of diet as well as exercise for combatting cancer. Thanks for posting.

Sounds to me like a smoothie with a base of soy milk for isoflavones, certain dark cocolate (non-Dutch processed cocoa or unsweetened dark chocolate from Lilly's?) for flavonoids, and frozen blueberries or the Triple Berry would be a great combination (this would simply involve me switching from almond milk to soy).

Thanks for the excuse!

This may not help beat prostate cancer, but it sure helps to beat thinking about prostate cancer. My wife bought an ice cream maker last week because I’m pre-diabatic and don’t eat anything with added sugar (and we were both craving ice cream in this summer heat). She found some vegan recipes that also used non-sugar sweeteners like stevia and monk fruit. She made a batch of ice cream yesterday using tofu and oat milk. It was as good as, if not better than, any nondairy commercial ice cream. A three-mile morning walk up our neighborhood trail followed by a bowl of tofu-oat milk ice cream with hazel nut monk fruit sweetener made my day!

@surftohealth88 I’ll get the recipe from my wife and share it. She modified something she found on the web.
