TMS or ECT treatments: Did they work for you?

Posted by phxlife @phxlife, May 3, 2023

TMS and ECT treatments are very reputable and often used these days by top notch Psychiatrists. I’m wondering if anyone has had either one recently, and did you have it for depression, or another condition? How did they work for you?

Good Morning Everyone (at least where I am it is morning)
I have some interesting news to share, at least I think it is interesting/hopeful.
I had my consult with the Dr. for TMS. The good news is a am a suitable/eligible candidate.(Yay)
Although it is not what I was originally researching, I am going to be having the 1 day (Yes, ONE day!) protocol performed in a month. The evidence of it working/or not will be a faster response then waiting on yet another medication.
If it works, fantastic, if it doesn't, then I will have to continue down the path of other options.
This Protocol is new in Canada, I think it has been in use a little longer in the States.
Has anyone on this site every done this?

I had Tms 2 years ago and it did not work. I have Ocd,Anxiety and Depression My feeling is that it works more for depression but not OCD. Everyone is different so you will only know if you try. My advice is go in with an open mind. I thought it would cure me and I was highly disappointed. The only thing it did was give me a headache and make me sleepy. Good Luck

Thanks Mitch. When I asked the Dr. about potential side effects (more long term then short, I get those will be inevitable) he said the biggest one that some people have to tackle is disappointment. I remain hopeful, it's worth a try .... If it helps, Great! ...if not at least I know I will have to start looking at other options.
There's been many a day I've thought about sticking my finger in a light socket to try and give my brain a "whack" .... I'll try the safer option first 🙂
