So excited I needed to post right away. My Peterson's guide recommends peppermint. The oil can be extremely toxic, so I don't want to mess with that, but I just happen to have a box of tea in my cupboard. It not only soothes stomach pain and irritable bowel, it also helps with headaches, nervous tension and insomnia. It also stops spasms of smooth muscles (tremors anyone?) Also effective against some viruses. I'm brewing some now. I keep it on hand because a couple of times when I had some severe vomiting it simply takes away the nausea. It didn't cure my flu, but at least I could keep fluids down. I have gotten several other people to try it and it worked for them too. Fingers crossed. Will update soon.

@mountainmarge i have heard a lot of good things about peppermint tea and a lot of people swear by it as a remedy for many ailments but … I am weird; I can’t stand the taste of peppermint and simply gag on it in any form! Also, for some suffering with GERD (I being one of them), it could be counterproductive because peppermint relaxes the sphincter between the stomach and esophagus, causing acid to reflux.
