Living with Early Dementia or Mild Cognitive Impairment - Meet Others

Posted by Lisa Lucier, Moderator @lisalucier, Jun 22 9:45pm

As promised, Mayo Clinic Connect now has a group dedicated to living with Early Dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) support group. Follow the group to get notifications when new posts are made.

This is a welcoming, safe place where you can meet people living with early dementia or MCI, or who are wondering about these conditions or undergoing testing. Let's learn from each other and share stories about living well with these conditions, interacting with others who do not have these diagnoses, and offering tips.

Looking forward to welcoming you and introducing you to other members. Feel free to browse the topics in the Early Dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) group or start a new one.

Let's chat. Why not start by introducing yourself?

Well then,
It’s been a few since I pulled my head out of the sand.
Have been home two weeks after spending almost that at the amazing Mayo Clinic Rochester.
What a privilege it was to be seen and I now have confirmation on diagnosis.
Definitely not something you wanna spitball.
Biopsy came back and along with all tests at MC, I’m living with MCI, Lewy Body with Parkinsonism.
Started the LB med week ago and Parkinson’s med today.
I’m grateful, but still gathering myself with the absolute of it.
I’m staying busy, but finding myself getting tired easier and needing breaks during the day.
Working hard at giving myself permission to process my emotions.
I talk about it a lot.
Ashley has had a generous amount of wisdom since I’ve been on here, I’m working at applying some of it.
Keeping it steady for now.
Craig

Good to hear from you again!
Sorry to hear the news. How many of the skin biopsies came back positive? I had one on my neck come back positive.
Attitude means a lot right now, concentrate on what you have, not what may happen.
Easier said than done, for sure, but it will help.
I decided to retire sept 8th. I was going to wait another year, but things are becoming slowly more difficult. So I decided to go early, while I can still enjoy myself.
My doctor put me on Buspar for anxiety, really messed up my stomach. I'm glad you’re going to Mayo- no place better!
It’s the Fourth of July and I am foregoing my 8:00 bedtime, going to the city park and watch the fireworks, it has been many, many years when I watched them as a child, yet I still find them very exhilarating.😃
Keep the strength! Regards, Ashley
