If you started a glp-1 how fast did your numbers change?

Posted by anonymom3 @anonymom3, 1 day ago

I started Ozempic on Tuesday night. Last night my overnight numbers were fluctuating like they always do, but in a range that is 30 or so points below what I have typically seen over the past month.

But I also changed my Stelo last night. I heard you can get inaccurate readings with a new sensor.

Could I see results that fast? I thought the first month at the tiny dose was just to get your body used to it.

Yes, it is hard to say if you will get 20 or 30 from the starting dose. You started from a very high baseline of 150. As the dose increases over the next couple of months your numbers will get better if you get a good response at .25mg.
My A1c went from 8.0 to 5.7 in 3 months, 5.4 at 6, and 4.9 now (16 months). Weight loss: 3% at 1 month, 10% at 3, 15% at 6, and 20% now at 16 months.
The weight loss has a synergistic effect on the A1c numbers.

It’s all about food intake and your digestive process. I’m on Mounjaro & have to be at a maximal dose of 15 mg. My A1C stays at a level of 6.8% for past 90 days. I find the GLP1 really useful on keeping my appetite lower. It has really stabilized my diabetes at a livable level. I’ve lost about 35 pounds over the past three years. You still have to focus on your diet but it takes the urgency off eating (thankfully)

When the OP says number at 30, what reference number are they referring? A1C?

I am referring to my blood glucose, as measured by either my Stelo cgm or by fingerstick, which I only do in the morning.

I was diagnosed 5.5 weeks ago. At diagnosis I had an A1C of 13.6 and a fasting blood glucose of 327. That has fallen pretty steadily, but a little bit each days. The day before I posted this my morning fasting blood sugar was 144, and my average glucose was 137. Yesterday my average glucose was 117, and my fasting bg this morning was 115. In addition, where as the lowest numbers I had seen before was 96 but it never stayed under 100 for more than 1 reading (Stelo reports every 15 minutes). Last night and the night before it got down to the high 60’s and it’s been in the 90’s for stretches of time during the day.

Anyway, it’s a dramatic improvement, and I am curious if it’s Ozempic or a faulty Stelo. Obviously I hope it’s the med!

I worry about mine when fasting is 125, and my A1C is around 6 on a steady basis. Immune BMI is 31.4 which is below the threshold I’d 35, but I have several commodities, HBP, AFIB, sleep apnea, best of luck in your endeavor
