Constipation/diarrhea prolonged with back and abdominal pain
I have been sick for two months. I’ve been to urgent care six times, the ER once and a visit with a surgeon. Nobody will help me. I’ve had constipation mostly but bouts with diarrhea as well with an overall yuck feeling I can’t describe. Terrible lower back and abdominal pain, nausea, headaches that wake me up, sweating. I honestly can’t remember everything anymore. A ct showed I have a partial bowel obstruction but the surgeon I saw two days ago says no. He is sending me for a small intestine follow through next week. They have me meds to coat my stomach and to treat ulcers. I declined to take them. During this two month period I was diagnosed with a sinus infection, continuous uti, and strep. I was given four antibiotics and two steroids. About two weeks later I was I was in the ER for severe dehydration where they treated me for a headache and sent me home. I’ve been so miserable and no one will help me. I gave myself two enemas yesterday and today I’m feeling the same back/abdominal pain and overall yuck feeling. Has anyone else been through this?

I am sorry you are going through this.
I would think you should see a Gastroenterologist . Have you had a colonoscopy?
or PET scan to rule out colon cancer? The antibiotics would explain the diarrhea and constipation is sometimes a backlash of having diarrhea which uses up all the liquids in you and leaves you dehydrated and constipated.
saw this also re: steroids from Mayo clinic.
Steroids (corticosteroids) can cause various side effects, notably increased appetite and weight gain, fluid retention and swelling, mood swings or trouble sleeping, an increased risk of infections, and elevated blood sugar levels. The specific side effects you experience depend on the dosage, how long you take them, and the method of administration (e.g., pills, inhalers, or injections)
also found that in about 1% can cause constipation so drink lots and lots of water. That also helps prevent UTIs.
I hope you find answers. not knowing is so frustrating.
I have not seen a GI doctor yet. It’s like they think I’m making it all up. The only test I’ve had is a ct which showed a partial bowel obstruction. I was on antibiotics for 10-14 days along with steroids. Now I feel like I’m on my own to figure this out and I hate it. Thank you for your input.
