Is Reclast the 6 month injection you get after Evinity? Curious how it makes you feel.

I finished my 12 months of Evenity at the end of March. I never had any of the side effects. I had the infusion (two shots) in my belly. They didn't hurt any more than a regular shot and I had no pain after like you do after having the covid vaccine. I gained in all three areas measured in a DEXA. This took me from osteoporosis to osteopenia so I am very happy about that. I did not want to do Reclast so I am taking Fosemax to maintain the gains from the Evenity. I don't like having to wait until 30 minutes after taking it, but at least if I take it instead of the Reclast I can quit taking it if I experience any side effects. I understand that you shouldn't take Fosemax if you have trouble with reflux already. It hasn't affected me. You must take it with a full glass of water and not lie down after taking it. I take levothyroxine for Graves disease after having my thyroid killed by radioactive iodine. This could be a conflict since most people take it in the morning but what I do is I get up in the night (since I usually have to go to the bathroom anyway) and take my levothyroxine at that time. I can lie down after that one and am not bothered by it. This is my solution.

@jmc50 It’s an annual infusion, delivered over 60 minutes. I had no side effects whatsoever from it. It’s been a couple of weeks and I feel fine.

How are you doing on the injection?

I had my first Evenity infusion two weeks ago. It went well. One needle, split doses. The nurse took the pre-filled syringe (packaged) out of the refrigerator for 30 minutes. I had one-half in each upper arm, under where my flesh is loose. Did not hurt going in. I waiting a half hour and no reaction so went home. I did have some headaches, a few more than usual. Gone now.
I have 11 more, 4 weeks apart. So far so good!
I'm supposed to start Reclast after 12 doses of the Evenity.

@dbb Yes, PTH and ALP are high after one month from first injection of Evinity. This could indicate bone growth. I stopped Forteo 6 months ago with no bridge to save gains so I lost all gains. These results could be from Evinity or be residual consequences of Forteo. I could not get my endocrinologists to do baseline testing before I started Evinity. I don't have all my bloodwork results back yet, but I will post if anything else is abnormal.
I also had bone turnover markers tested and I am hoping those indicate a response to Evinity. I find it a rough drug to take, but I need to rescue my bones.
What abnormal bloodwork results did you have?

I started Prolia after my year of evenity. I have also read that some are prescribed reclast or alendronate to keep the evenity gains. It is all so individual another one size fits all.

Yes Evenity must be followed by Prolia or bisphosphonates to maintain Evenity gains. With Prolia, you cannot miss a dose or stop it without a transition plan to bisphosphonates or you risk rebound (to worse) and spontaneous fractures. Be sure to have a plan and discuss with your doctor.
