I am wondering how the incorrect join even made it into the surgical room. I do have slot of faith in my surgeon but he probably should have caught it. I will probably have the revision but will be months away so I have plenty of time to think about it or for my knee to fail. Thanks

My surgeon keeps a complete set of implants in the operating theater so he can pivot to or from a partial to a total. The surface of a cemented implant is probably not porous enough for bones to properly grow over it.

You are being too generous to your surgeon. There is no way this should have happened and I would hobble to the exit door and find a new revision surgeon to determine if a revision is needed.
If you are anywhere near a Mayo Clinic or the Hospital for Special Surgery they are excellent choices for a revision opinion.
