No cement in joint!
I had total knee replacement (both knees)12 weeks ago. My therapist said I was a success. I go in to what I think is my last doctor visit and I get the bad news. Non cemented joined where to be used. Well a wrong join was accidentally installed. A join that required cement was installed without the cement. Both my knees feel great but am very concerned that one joint will not hold. Should I go ahead and have a revision? Is there any chance the joint (that needed cement) will or can hold. Thanks

@daviduster340 Hmm, that seems like a serious medical error. Did the surgeon explain how this happened? Step back and get some independent advice before you proceed.
At the least, before agreeing to revision, I would work with the director of practice at the surgical facility and the surgeon's management team to get a definitive answer that it is needed from the manufacturer of the implant that was used. Then I would insist that if revision is needed, it must be done "on their dime" There should have been at least a half dozen people on the team who checked and double checked that the correct device was used, and the proper surgical method used.
I'm sorry you got such alarming news!

1 ReactionI am wondering how the incorrect join even made it into the surgical room. I do have slot of faith in my surgeon but he probably should have caught it. I will probably have the revision but will be months away so I have plenty of time to think about it or for my knee to fail. Thanks
