Ttird various remedies for OAB at night, actually 24/7, nothing worked
Well here comes my tale of woe and woe is me!
For over 3 months now I’m awakened ever 2-2 2/2 hours every night to use the bathroom to urinate. Over and over again! Now even in a diaper, and how horrible is that?
So, here’s what as been performed by various urologists:
1-Performed TURP, minor operation to reduce size of prostate: Nope, did nothing!
2-Switched off Oxybutinin since I was told that it’s not safe for long term use:again a bid Zero did nothing.
3- Do now this urological surgeon suggests I need what is called SCN, Sacral Nerve Stimulation.
A battery pack is placed around your waist to control impulses caused by your Sacral Nerve to control your bladder.
Wow, I must tell you I’m all honesty, THIS PROCEDURE WAS THE MOST PAINFUL I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!
6 needles to the base of my spine, each one hurt more than the last.
I asked the surgeon if he knew what Lidocaine was? His answer was what do you think I’m injecting you with???
Failure rate on that procedure is about 50%, do thst was a true waste! Luckily first it’s only temporary prior to cutting into you skin to bury the wires, yuck.
If you’ve even been unlocks enough to feel kidney stones, thieves like having 3 all at the same time, and boy did I scream!!!!
4-So now a new brilliant idea, inject Botox into your bladder to slow it down, BUT it does not last and you must revisit periodically for another injection!!
Well you get my point! Now I don’t know how to proceed or what further solutions even exist.
I’ll keep investigating and if there is any POSITIVE NEWS I’ll add an addendum to this post.
HORRIBLE BEING TOTALLY EXHAUSTED EVERY MORING AND FALLING ASLEEP AT A RESTAURANT TABLE!!

@celia16 Diabetes glucose numbers under control, thanks.
I’m retired so I nap. Hope you are able to.
Nap, what does that even mean?
Ever since I was a young boy I could NEVER NAP! Once I’m up, I’m up, no going back to sleep. Great suggestion but unreal for me. Thank you for answering me!
Hello,
I usually get up 1-2 times a night to use the bathroom. Rarely 3 times.
I once stopped all food & fluids at 4:00pm & I still had to get up during the night.
So that didn’t work.
This might be too simplistic, but it works for me.
I have an old electric alarm clock beside my bed with big red numbers lit up.
If I look at it after getting up during the night to see what time it is, I will then be awake for hours. Wide awake.
So I turn the clock around so it faces away from me. So when I can’t see what time it is, I go right back to sleep.
Strange…must be some sort of mind/brain thing…. “Oh no, it’s only midnight & I am awake”…or… “It’s 5am and nearly time to get up.” No going back to sleep.
When I am oblivious to the time it really helps me. Sometimes little things might help.
