@sueinmn I am a smoker, but have no other issues... 40+ years of this nasty habit, and I guess it's catching up with me. This has been going on now for just over a year, and all of a sudden. I know quitting smoking could stop the continuation, but is it possible to get what's been accumulating over the years out of my lungs....?

@kyleb5953 You could try saline nebulizer. It works pretty good at getting the phlegm up. I would consult a doctor to make sure that you don't have any underlying issues other than the fact that you smoke though.

@kyleb5953 Step one - see a doc to have your lungs checked!l Any major change needs to be evaluated to find out if there is a treatable underlying cause.
Have you done this?
Step two, of course is to quit smoking, and not replace it with raping or smokeless tobacco. What have you tried so far?
