Reclast caused me to have a broken femur!
Doctor put me on Reclast for 3 years. By third year after iv left leg hurting and getting weaker. Finally, one day leg gave out and I fell to the ground with broken femur. Emergency Surgery. After this several doctors told me it was due to Reclast. Was never told Reclast could do this. Women should avoid this iv. I will post what happened to me wherever I can. To put this drug out knowing it can cause a broken femur is horrible. Women should be told this side effect before receiving the drug. Having a broken femur is a terrible thing with the pain and surgery. I am 3 months out from surgery and still recovering. Now my doctors tell me I should not get anymore reclast! Too late for my broken Femur! Beware of Reclast!

Indeed, everyone needs to be told of side effects. We all need to do our own research and advocate for ourselves. Do not be passive in your own care. Ask questions. What are the side effects, what do I need to be concerned about?

I’ve had major infections, weakened immune system Causing colectomy surgery. 1 dose of IV Reclast caused 3 months of bee stinging rashes on my forearms. Severe left leg pain. Can’t sleep, now told it could be fractured femur. X-ray tomorrow. I would not have done this if I knew. I did take Prozac for 20 plus years. Prozac can cause osteoporosis. 🙏

1 ReactionDoctors do not inform us of the side effects of medication especially bone meds. We have to do our own research. I was put on PROLIA over 10years ago when it was relatively new in Europe, but I shouldn't have been put on it I was too young and my bones weren't too bad. I didn't know that if I was to stop taking it that my bones would lose a lot more density than they were before I went on it. I stopped taking it after about 2 years on it to have dental work done... I am not on any bone meds but I know that I will have to go on something. I have a dexa scan coming up soon and after that I want to see a private bone and bone meds consultant to help me decide what I should go on. All bone meds have side effects. @ahrensburg75 Hi...yes I hope you will get on some bone med ASAP. I experienced the after effects of stopping Prolia after 5 yrs. PCP never recommended I go on any other bone med. Within 3 months I had 3 vertebral fractures. That was 3 yrs ago...I'm a new version of "me" now. Lost 3 inches in height and kyphosis of spine. Always have belly problems now as I'm all "squished. " I have a new wonderful female PCP...back on Prolia. One specialist told me "you need to stay on Prolia the rest of your life. " Will do!

I took Fosamax for my bones many years ago and there was no warning that unusual thigh bone fractures have been known to occur. In 2008 my left femur snapped and the surgeon put a nail in it. Later that year , ABC News came out with a story about bisposphenate drugs causing such fractures. In 2018 my right femur snapped in the same manner. Same surgery occurred.
They are still on the market. I still have problems from those surgeries. Makes me mad.
Hang in there. I realize our world is unfair. It makes me sad.
