Degenerative discs irritating nerves, causing foot numbness

Posted by soby @soby, May 28 8:20am

Has anyone had a problem with degenerative discs chemically irritating
nerves, causing foot numbness? No nerve compression, as far as we know.

What did you do for it?

I have numbness on my left side, left hand and fingers. Started using a brace it seems to help.

@johnbishop what do they do for the small fiber neuropathy? Does it also cause leg spasticity at night? Thanks

@meadows I have had 4 back surgeries. The last one was a 5 1/2 hr. Fusion. No more pain but I have limited use of my legs, a drop right food and My Neuropathy is worse. My balance is terrible so need a cane to walk. After 3 yrs of PT NO improvement in my balance. I'm doing my exercises at home with my own PT equipment. I feel fortunate to have no pain and I'm 88. Happy to be alive.

Had v3-7 decompression and screws/bolts, plus t10-12 screws/bolts.
Dr told me just walk out after surgery. Could not walk in rehab for a month.
Now issues with lumbar, dr wants to decompress l2-s1, different drs want Inst fusion , non Inst and some none.
Nobody dr knows , no outcome
