Anyone had success with HBOT therapy for radiation cystitis?
Has anyone done hyperbaric oxygen therapy for radiation burn in the bladder? My doctor says it is the best option for me, But I am claustrophobic. To lay in an eclosed tube for an hour a day or twice a day is blowing my mind. I would try this in a heartbeat if it was not for that. Has anyone had this and how was it?

Happy to hear your success story. How much is s the cost for something like that and what companies did you deal with.

1 Reaction@jrs619 I purchased a chamber from Newtowne Hyperbarics. Pocomoke MD. The cost of the chamber and everything that you need for the treatments, cost me just over $ 7600. I was able to purchased one that was used 1 time and had some blemishes. They gave me a full warranty just like a new one. I never had any problems with it. The oxygen machine you have to purchase new and that has a 10,000 hour warranty. My chamber was a sit in, I was able to put a comfortable chair in it. The chambers that you lay in are quite a bit less money. But with claustrophobia I did not think I could handle that.

2 Reactions70 year old Gleason 7 (4+3), ADT, Brachytherapy, RT. Radiation cystitis for 2 years, medications no improvement. Had 40 sessions of HBOT, all cured 3 weeks after completion - would recommend it.

12 ReactionsHappy for you! 74 HBOT sessions had no effect for me, but I would recommend it as a first step for anyone experiencing cystitis. Supposedly there’s a 90% cure rate.
Wonderful for you!!
I had a similar experience. Cancer at age 70 in 2016, stage 4. Prostectomy. Proton radiation in April 2017. Suffered with messed up bowels and incontinence until April of this year. Then all hell broke lose. Digestive system went totally haywire, lost 25 lbs in one month and not able to eat much. Urinary system also went crazy. Massive bleeding and clot blockages. Had 30 HBOT sessions in June and July. As of today, intestinal issues cleared up. Gained 7 pounds back and can eat normally. They had to cauterize the inside of the bladder. Urine flows like a river but no valve to stop it. Waiting to get evaluated for an artificial valve. Good luck to you. HBOT saved me. John
