Shocked by aging process

Posted by seniormiz @seniormiz, Jan 25 8:54am

My fingernails and toenails stopped growing and just keep breaking off. My hair is falling out. My memory is not as sharp and sometimes I feel a little woozy. I hate this. I want my body and my senses back.

Boy do I hear you! I used to be so very into how I looked, into tennis, golf and running
One day I woke up and I had that crepey skin on legs and thighs! My skin had small brown spots, the worst- a protruding of abdomen when it used to be perfect. AARRGH!

Lower back hurt getting out of bed, but improved after moving around.
Many days don't feel like going to drop-in tennis, meeting new people.
Tire easily.
But I love to hang around and read !!!

@gravity3 I agree 100%! One of my very good friends has convinced mt that ""Good Enough" is actually better then perfect most of the time.

Perfect is boring!

@gravity3 Unless, of course, you're a werewolf having a piña colada at Trader Vic's (his hair was PERFECT).

I’ve found that putting powdered collagen in my coffee (it’s tasteless) and my nails are so hard, I can’t even cut them myself. I have short hair and it’s very fine, but when I get it cut, they always tell me I have a lot of it. I really don’t know why, except for the collagen. Try it for a couple months. The rest of me is falling apart and I’m in pain 24/7, but I have tough nails. I really think it would help. 😊

@sandysurf my nails have always been paper thin, now I had PTE surgery clots in both lungs and anemic, so nails are worse. Going to try collagen.

Hi, @gravity3

A commonplace, or common book, is usually a notebook of sorts in which a person jots down most anything he or she fings striking. My commonplace is filled with everything from snippets of poetry, song lyrics, passages of prose, most anything that, when I read it, I thought, Hmm, I'd like to remember that! I believe more people kept commonplaces or common books in years past; fewer do nowadays.

Cheers!

@ray666 Thanks for that clarification! I have done this for years, however I have never put a proper name to my many, many thoughts. I so enjoy looking back.
Ps-I also keep running thoughts in the “notes” app on my iPhone😊

Hi, @cathyphillips

Ah, the "notes" app on your iPhone! You see how much more THIS century you are? I did finally graduate from a flip phone to a … a … whachmacallit? A not-a-flip-phone? It works, though (if barely). Think of it as a steam-driven phone. 🙂

Cheers!
