If you have MDS, do you think you got it?

I have heard that MDS is caused from some sort of chemical or chemicals. If you had to guess (Or maybe you know for sure) what caused your MDS?

I don't know for certain, but suspect Covid compromised my wife's immune system.

I have read and talked with my doc about this...high levels of benzene exposure. For me it was gasoline fumes being around outboards and working in the plastics industry both for decades.
The CDC states that 'benzene is a highly toxic, colorless liquid chemical used to manufacture plastics, resins, and detergents, and is found in crude oil, gasoline, and cigarette smoke. Breathing or ingesting high levels can cause neurological damage, while chronic exposure severely damages bone marrow and is a known cause of leukemia'.
Boom.

I really have no idea what caused my MDS. I thought, maybe because I smoked for over 25 years. I did have COVID and was hospitalized for 5 days. I am not aware of anyone in my family having MDS or any blood disorder. Much cancer in my family, many different kinds, but none related to blood or bone marrow. It's been 9 1/2 years since I was diagnosed and I keep waking up each morning, thanks to God.

I have no idea.
I was diagnosed and treated first for AML.
I am in remission but my numbers seldom reach the normal range and when they do they slip back down. Latest BMB showed SF3B1 mutation (MDS) which my Hem/Onc thinks is the reason my numbers see-saw back and forth. Started INQOVI this week. Hopefully my numbers will all get in to and stay in the normal range eventually. For now I am tremendously grateful for the wonderful quality of life I enjoy each and every day. Healing prayers for everyone walking the cancer walk!

My husband was Facility Manager at our church for 25 years, and I think it was his use of Round-Up when he took care of the grounds. He would wear a backpack of the stuff and spray it around the area. One time the backpack had a leak, and it wet his entire back, but he was unaware of it until he was done. I think that chemical compound seeped into his skin. He was athletic and very healthy....UNTIL his MDS/AML diagnosis in 2023. He is 74.

I have a lambda light chain type myeloma. I think. Ate organic food, was extremely carefully about pesticides, preservatives. Etc. However, five pneumonias, many bronchial infections, Covid. I find the words, “it happens” not enough.

Hi Gidget😄. WHO says carcinogenic. USA docs say not. Monsanto paid out $10 B to stop the lawsuits.
Everyone is still buying and using Round Up glysophate.
🤷‍♂️
