@haelsky I'm curious why they would do a scan without contrast. I think with this latest CT scan that they injected the contrast halfway through the procedure.

I started at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston with my initial biopsy etc., and then moved to Dana Farber Cancer Institute. My first PET scan lit up additional areas that turned out to be false alarms, but they had to be ruled out with additional scans and another biopsy.

Good luck with the upcoming scan and related follow ups!

@wushirl
I will ask the thoracic oncologist her reason for not using contrast!

@haelsky After the lobectomy I had a couple checkups with x-rays, then had another checkup around the 6 month mark. Around the 8 month mark I got a PET scan, though that was more because my genetics test showed a mutation (RAD51C) and risk for breast and ovarian cancer. I had a CT scan at the 1-year mark. The scans had contrast and showed no cancer. I also had a diagnostic mammogram as well as a breast MRI. I'm supposed to follow up with the geneticist as well and have been told I should get a preventive surgery for the ovarian. At this point my surgeon said I don't need a CT scan for another 18 months, though I'll see my oncologist more frequently because of the mutation and other risks.

@jessie1990 I'm sorry the pain is still persisting. Does your treatment facility or insurance offer pain management? I'm not familiar with it and haven't used it, but I've seen it mentioned before.
