When your doctor stops prescribing prednisone

I was prescribed Prednisolone in January 2020 when my arthritis was in full evidence. I have NAFL Angina and metal rods lower lumbar plus ACL Knee, Hip and shoulder probs.
Pred has been a life saver. Changed my life. Five years on, my appointment yesterday was awful. Wanted me off Pred. The alternatives:
Amitriptyline
Duloxetine
Nefopam (blacklisted)
Nortriptilyne
All side effects weight gain, dizziness, nausea, constripation, headaches, dry mouth.
She actually rolled her eyes when I said I was allergic to so many things, but since I’ve been on Pred. I’ve had less bronchitis asthma arthritis pain.
My bloods are perfect
My dexa scan is of 25 year old and I’m a sturdy Dutch Scottish 73 year old.
Pred didn’t go out of fashion. My specialist did.

All meds come with side effects, some immediate and noticeable, some long term and uncorrectable if they occur. Prednisone was never meant to be a long term solution, but at 73 you have a right to choose quality of life over long term risks. Unfortunately, you will need to find a doctor who agrees with you. Hopefully everything works out.
