Evenity caused heart palpatations, shortness of breath?
I had my first Evenity shot 10 days ago (79 yr old). On the first day, a tooth ached but went away that night. Second day, did aerobic exercise and had heart palpatations for a few hours. Third day, was walking outside (it was hot) and almost feinted, was short of breath and had to sit down! Various new pains in back and knee. Headache every day. Wondering if Evenity is doing damage and whether to continue or not!

Here is my experience. I was on Evenity for 12 months with the monthly injections I received at an infusion center. I had one instance of heart palpitations about two months after starting Evenity. That increase in heart palpitations started early one morning and was gone within 20 minutes. I saw my primary care physician that same day. She checked me, ran an ECG, and found nothing amiss. At the time that happened we had renovations going on at our house and so that was stressful. Who knows? Perhaps that's why I had the increase in heart rate? It did not happen again and the remaining 10 months I had no reactions to the Evenity injections.
Since you are concerned about side effects, have you talked with your prescribing physician?

1 ReactionThank you, Helen, I haven’t told my physician about this yet. I was waiting to see how the rest of the time goes before I contact her. I did call my primary and she told me to go to the emergency room! She was doubtful that it was caused by Evevity, but I have no question in my mind that it was.

1 ReactionI completed a full year of Evenity and then had one Reclast injection last February. The two years prior to treatment was a haze of falls, broken ribs, and fractured vertebra. My osteoporosis numbers were the worst that the specialist at Oregon Health Science University had ever treated, probably the result of radiation treatments taken for breast cancer and nonhodgkins lymphoma. But, since taking the Evenity treatment, my back "feels" stronger. I've had no falls or broken bones. I am left with a very hunched back and lost three inches. I also gained 8 pounds in the third month of the Evenity treatment. There are days that I feel too sorry for myself. Simultaneously, I recognize that I should be grateful for being able to walk and be cancer free.
I guess I would advise you to stay in contact with your doctor and listen to your body. Only you can determine whether the side effects are scary enough, and your specialist can help you assess if the medical reaction to Evenity is serious. I wish you the best. Roz

I did contact my prescribing doctor and told her about my "cardiac event". She said it probably wasn't from the Evenity ... but it's up to me whether to continue with it or not. She said that she's never heard of this reaction to Evenity. I told her that I've seen others report this when looking on line. Her response was, "do you not ride in a car because you read about accidents?" I think I need a different doctor!
Hi, I'm on Evenity. I haven't had any of those symptoms. Despite having no cardiac history, I did have to get a cardiac clearance before starting Evenity due to the known risk of heart attack or stroke. I had an ECG, echocardiogram, and coronary calcium score test, all of which were normal.
