One month of Orgovyx completed

Posted by toolbelt @toolbelt, Jan 2, 2024

Just a quick update for those Brothers on, or considering ADT with, Orgovyx.

Today I started the second month of my 6 month sentence. As of today I have had virtually no side effects. I purposely lost 8 pounds prior to going on it, and today the scale says I am down another pound. Just back from the gym and I am doing the same reps, sets and weights that I was doing prior to Orgovyx..

Finished SBRT 5 last Thursday and other than some minor bowel urgency I have no side effects from that either.

If anyone has questions about Orgovyx or SBRT fire away.

I am 68, one 4+3 and one 3+3 core. PSMA PET shows confined to prostate, Decipher was .84. Grade Group 3, intermediate unfavorable.

Stay Strong Brothers!

Just started yesterday BUT won't tolerate the severe side effects, ie: heart, kidney ,lungs, etc. I will quit immediately and take my chances to live as long as I can. Already booked togo to vacation this October, Italy 🇮🇹, and keeping with my routine of walking n weights to ready for Trip. 1/3 of Radiation done. Looking forward to beating this and staying strong Positive.
Curious to see how/what transpires with this Orgovyx.

Sirheartt: I am not clear on your treatment and schedule, however I hope this helps:
I easily traveled to France for 2 weeks in Oct 2023 following my completion of treatment.

Salvage Treatment following RP; I began a 4 mo course of Orgovyx in Feb 2023, 8 wks of radiation in March. Completed radiation in May and Orgovyx in June.
I returned to normal activities, but had some continuing fatigue; "power" reduction 10 - 20% thru the following few months.
Really began to feel "normal" about 4 mos after treatment.
Best wishes

Thanks for the info and glad you don’t have bad side effects. I’m 76, had seeds inserted in Dec. 2020, recurrent in July, 2024. I’ll be starting my Orgovyx on Monday and then my 5 sbrt treatments in August. Take care and good luck.

Just finished 18 months of Orgovyx this week. I had all the side effects listed on the Orgovyx.com site such as fatigue (extreme), weight gain, ED, loss of libido, hot flashes, diarrhea and one they didn't list: loss of neck-down body hair. They don't call it chemotherapy but it must be a close cousin. I hope by fall to be clear of most of these. It did excellent work on the cancer: PSA <.01 for the last year.

@toolbelt It's interesting how ADT affects its victims differently: no loss of hair on head or face but rather everything below the neckline, armpits and pubic areas included. It's like reverse puberty, peach fuzz.

On month four of Orgovyx. Weight is up two pounds; working out regularly. Strength remains the same but feeling a little more paunchy. Hot flashes are annoying and some breast tenderness on one side is painful. Meet with the RO on 2 July to get the IMRT process underway. 4+3; .88 Decipher.
