Does anyone have Zenker's Diverticulum?
I was diagnosed with Zenker's after having an endoscopy and just checking to see how common it is?

I was diagnosed with zenkers about 8 years ago. I have had trouble swallowing pill for years and foods became a problem, the reason for the swallow study that found it. I had a procedure where the surgeon went down my throat to slit it but was not able to reach it. Have had two swallow studies that show it is getting bigger but still considered moderate in size. I have issues with food getting stuck that I am able to regurgitate. I am 76 years young. The only remedy is surgery and I am told the only MD in my area of Tampa is a dr. through the university of Florida. From what I understand the most common procedure is surgery going through the back of the neck and can cause damage to voice box and other high risk issues. I have read that Mayo is working on less intrusive surgery but I am not able to use Mayo do to my Medicare Advantage insurance.
