Eye drained to prevent increased eye pressure

My glaucoma- eye pressure would go up extremely high even though I was on several glaucoma drops. My pressure would go up to low 50’s and high 40’s. I had uncontrolled glaucoma for several years in spite of being medication compliant. What made a tremendous change in my life was getting a surgery that helps drain out the liquid that creates the high eye pressure. That was about 2 years ago and my pressure has remained stable at a very safe zone. I never had pressure drained but would recommend discussing this procedure.

I wish I did it sooner as by the time I had it done I already lost some of my peripheral vision in that eye- will not get that back…and unfortunately I lost my vision on my other eye due to unrelated ocular issues. Wishing you the best!

Do you know what kind of surgery you had? Was it a second drain, a stent in your drain or laser treatment to open the drain or something else? I have really bad steroid induced IOP. The doctors say nothing will fix it. I need the steroids to fix my vision, but they jack up the IOP really bad. Told I can't have cataract surgery on the other eye ever because of this.
