I just had my repeat MRI for my meningiomas. They didn't grow any at the 3-month mark, but are recommending Gamma knife to control them now, while they are controllable. The primary tumor is 2.5 cm, and the other three masses are about 0.7 cm each. My primary meningioma has affected my hearing and some dizziness. Have others had dizziness from their meningiomas? I would welcome any conversations on Gamma Knife as well.

@jvo2020neb1 A friend of mine successfully had Gamma Knife surgery, at the UC Davis Medical Center, three years ago and has had no regrowth. He is meningioma is carefully monitored by yearly MRI’s. I am not a candidate for the Gamma Knife and wish I was! You are lucky!

@jvo2020neb1: Just curious, with regard to the 2.5 cm. meningioma did the doctor tell you it's in a location that is too dangerous to remove it?

@vernicek That is good to hear, thanks for sharing. They didn't give me a timeframe as to when to have Gamma Knife.

@mkoch They said I could have more damage from surgery since my tumor is located near the brain stem and is hard to reach. I could have additional hearing loss and migraines from surgery. It's also grown into the IAC, and they would not be able to remove a lot of it. I am on the young side for this kind of diagnosis, which is what worries me about having radiation at my age, not yet 50.

In 2008, I was having petti-mal seizures (dizzy, winking out, etc.) and didn't realize what was happening to me at the time they "discovered" a rather large 1" round meningioma pressing on my right brain. Thankful to God it was benign (not into the brain or affecting my eye) and removed in brain surgery. Have had clear MRIs the following 10 years and another clear MRI after 18 years.

No radiation because the meningioma was benign.
