I had my gallbladder removed in my 50s. Every surgery has risks, but mine went very smoothly.

I had a bad gallbladder attack, went to the ER, and they were concerned the symptoms were heart-related and did not mention gallbladder. Within a month, had another gallbladder attack, saw my primary, and he scheduled surgery. The gallbladder had stones.

Has your son had gallbladder attacks? What concerns do you or your son have?

Best to to have robotic approach through small scope
portals. The open incision approach is more difficult
with recovery postop.

I am going through that now. Ultrasound showed a large stone which will not pass on its own. The surgeon said there could be more behind it.
I only found out because I have been having issues with digestion.
I have mine scheduled early July. I could have had it done this last week. But, I have travel plans and was uncertain of healing time.

I started a NO and very low-fat diet which is helping with the digestion and hoping it will be ok until the surgery.

Has he had an ultrasound? What are his issues?

I had mine removed three months ago. Developed esbl and lvbbb. Depends where you go. Now three months later I look 8 months pregnant. Stomach looks like a bullet balloon. Hope there is no hernia or just need to cut down on eating which I have. Get it done before you have an attack. Then you have no choice who does your surgery

@gloriaann I had my gallbladder out at age 35. I haven't missed it in the last 30 years.

Pros - no more debilitating gallbladder attacks, no risk of emergency cholecystectomy, pancreatitis, or other complications of a blocked bile duct.

Cons - the usual surgical risks. Some people need to adjust their diet. I can't really speak to that, as I didn't need to.

What are your son's concerns for the surgery? What are your concerns?
