Is blue light herapy while taking hydroxyurea safe?

Posted by sjcrow @sjcrow, May 29 9:39am

Hi, I was diagnosed with polycythemia Vera and et in Dec at the age of 75. I take hydroxyurea (11 pills per week) and just started taking iron.

I have had two basal cell cancers removed in the past, (before the PV diagnosis) and since starting the hydroxyurea, I have had one squamous cell cancer spot removed. My dermatologist is recommending the blue U treatment. Has anyone else had this treatment while taking hydroxyurea? Did you have any problems after the treatment?
Thanks

@sjcrow, that is a good question to bring to the attention of your hematologist. You don't want the treatment for one condition (skin cancer) to negatively affect or interact with the treatment of another condition (polycythemia vera).
