I am new here and just recently found out I have neuropathy.
How do you deal with unpredictable neuropathy pain? I don’t have any meds for it yet. It hits my feet and calves of my legs.

Hello, @granny73
I am sorry to hear that you've diagnosed with neuropathy. Did you receive your diagnosis from a neurologist? You mention that you have not received any pain medcation 'yet.' Does that mean that your doctor has already submitted a prescription and that you're not simply waiting for that prescription or prescriptions to be available at your local pharmacy or to arrive in the mail? I'm sure it is frustrating to have to wait when the pain you're suffering is here & now.
I have very glad you thought to visit Connect!
Best wishes,
Ray (@ray666)

1 ReactionNo pain meds yet, my dr. said my primary doctor will be getting in touch with me about that. My neuropathy makes my toes numb. Balance is fine.
Thank you.

I am wise to side effects of drugs. Last year I was put on a couple of prescriptions after I had a heart attack and the side affects were harsh! Thank you for your input. I will remember your advice.
@ray666 I was thinking about trying Hempvana Pain Relief cream for nerve relief.
Hello, @granny73, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @ray666 and others. Hopefully your doctor will start a treatment plan soon. I think you might find the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy site helpful for looking at other treatments and therapies that might also provide some relief - https://www.foundationforpn.org/treatments/.

1 ReactionEveryone's different when it comes to what MIGHT help someone's pain from the neuropathy that we have to deal with because it won't work for everyone. There is no one thing that will help all of us, but there are a couple of things that our doctors have recommended to a lot of neuropathy sufferers, gabapentin and ALA(alpha lipoic acid). My neuropathy would probably be considered extreme compared to most of us on this forum because I'm taking the maximum dose of gabapentin that my doctor will prescribe, 3600mg a day. I'm also taking 1200mg of ALA , and the pain is always there, it hasn't gone away in over a decade.
So, is there a way of living with the pain and managing it?
