Help finding HRT over 10 years post menopause

@goseve , Hi. The first two weeks on Forteo (brand) I was a little dizzy but no issues after that. The dizziness was not enough to disrupt my day. I was concerned with injecting myself everyday for 2 years and wondering how I'd do that. It became very easy like brushing my teeth (:->). I did gain a little in my abdomen but nothing I couldn't manage. Weight gain was 1-2 pounds. My abdomen went down within 2 weeks after stopping.

When you finish Forteo you need to follow with another med to lock in the gains. My endo recommended Reclast. I was very nervous with Reclast but finally agreed with my endo that this was the best follow on med for me. I had no issues with it. My endo did recommend hydrating well 2-3 days prior, during the infusion, and a few days after the infusion as well as tylenol day of infusion and 1-2 days after.

How did you finally get your gyn to agree to hrt?

I used forteo for two years. No noticeable side effects. Moderate results.
Try a functional medicine provider if you are having difficulty with bhrt/hrt.

@leeosteo Thank you so much for answering me. I appreciate ur kindness and u made me feel less anxious about stating Tymlos or Forteo.
My primary care dr prescribed the transdermal estrogen patch for me to help me with my night sweats and my osteoporosis. I am 67 but still had terrible night sweats so my PCP agreed to the transdermal estrogen patch for me. I think of you mention that u still get night sweats that interfere with ur sleep, ur dr will probably consent to transdermal estrogen.

@goseve @leeosteo And any other post menopausal type symptoms also seems to help doctors prescribe HRT. Reduced libido, vaginal dryness, urinary urgency, mood swings, anxiety, depression, and/or mild "brain fog" in addition to night sweats?

Don't make the mistake that I did. My doctor gave me a full-face look with raised eyebrows and asked "Any menopausal symptoms at all?" Not knowing any better I just said "nope", but I could have honestly listed some of the symptoms above.

Forteo good for me. Wish it were longer than two years. No side effects.
