Can I keep going back on Recast
I have been on Recast for 3 years and have been of off it for 2 years, doctor has recommended Forteo for 2 years, after that I don’t know? I don’t know if I can go back on Recast, can’t do the oral meds. Maybe for 2 or 3 years, what then, I’ve heard that 6 years is the limit for Recast, or can you stay on it for many years and keep doing holidays

What has your prescribing physician said about reclast as the followup drug again?
I’m on Forteo I have health problems so Reclast was no good. From what being told the Forteo is a bone builder I have been on it 8 months now my decade was -4.3 or something when I’m done with the forte for two years I gotta figure out which one I can go and there’s a lot of them. I cannot go on because I have problems with kidneys and thyroid and stuff so I have to be careful. Hopefully they’ll have a new one out there that’s good. I don’t know.

1 ReactionMaybe one more year of Reclast? Then maybe HRT or SERM? I would ask your doctor what he or she recommends. I know there are people who take antiresorptive's longer than recommended because the risks of not taking them is greater than the risk of being on them longer. This an issue most of us will encounter. I keep praying for better options to emerge.

1 ReactionHi @mangos - From the trainings I have attended, your doctor seems to be on the right track. If you have been on Reclast for a few years, then have taken a bisphosphonate holiday (no drug), and you need a bit of a boost, Forteo for two years should give that boost. After you complete Forteo, then you would immediately go back on Reclast to maintain those gains. Dr. Michael McClung tries to get patients to the point where you can just take Reclast once, then take 3 to 4 years off, then another year of Reclast, and repeat to maintain your bone density and structure.

2 ReactionsBecause of the muscle distress I have had with Reclast ( the most recent aspiration on the operating table) because Reclast has affected my stomach muscles I am now concerned about what it may have done to my heart WHICH IS A MUSCLE!! no more for me!
@bytheriver what did it do to your stomach muscles?
