Retest Of PSA

Posted by benz57 @benz57, 6 days ago

Retest of 11.80 psa dropped to 5.20 with free psa of 16. Very similar to my last 2 psa's in the last 2 years. I've also never had a free psa that wasn't in the teens, so that maybe just normal for me.

@benz57 mine also fluctuates between a high of 8.1 and a low of 4.4 over the last 12 months. Most recent was 6.3. I've had two MRI's (pirads 3 and most recently pirads 2) and am doing PSA's every 3 months and MRI's once a year. I'm tracking density, doubling time and other factors to decide if/when to biopsy. I'm also doing some lifestyle changes, supplements recommended by the evidencezone.com site but it's unclear if any of these are helping and over the long term it's not easy trying to stay consistent when it comes to diet/exercise. I find myself "cheating" on weekends.

@ezupcic Forgive me if this is old news. My experience with exercise has taught me that resistance to it (and I get that often!) comes when I externalize the activity. That is, saying to myself "I am running" (an activity outside myself, and which hurts a bit), rather than "I am a runner" (baked into my identity, where the discomfort means development). It also helps to regard diet "cheats" as practically scheduled indulgences. That tends to limit them, make them more pleasurable, and relieve the guilt. Good luck!
