ADT and rising PSA
I could have added this to my previous discussions of “PSA Wrong Direction” but felt this is important enough for its own thread.
A couple of things I’ve learned since I started that first discussion in December:
1. If you are on ADT, your PSA is NOT SUPPOSED TO RISE!
If your PSA starts going in the wrong direction, even if it is a minimal increase, as mine was, DO NOT listen to the conventional wisdom of…
“It’s probably just a “minor bounce” or “lab variance” or “inflammation from radiation”. We’ll check it again in a few months”.
If you are on ADT, your PSA is NOT SUPPOSED TO RISE!
INSIST on monthly PSA testing immediately. Had I done so last December, the flare up on my spine would have been caught sooner, treated sooner, and I might still be able to walk normally and sleep through the night. Instead, it’s six months later and I don’t even start treatment until next week. It’s a $60 test. DEMAND it. If it turns out to be nothing, no harm, no foul. But if you can catch something earlier, maybe it can be treated before it hurts.
PSA:
4/21/25 - 30.11
6/7/25 - start ADT
7/9/25 - 0.55
8/26/25 - 0.19
10/2025 - IMRT
12/3/25 - 0.23
3/17/26 - 8.80
4/1/26 - 10.29
5/18/26 – 14.90
And…
2. Prostatic Adenocarcinoma is a very slow growing cancer…until it isn’t.
That is all…Don’t make my mistake.
Enjoy your day!

@surftohealth88 - Her name is Kat and she's not allowed in the quail shed. She gets nuts when a bird lands on the deck. Couldn't imagine the carnage if she was in a room full of birds.

Ha ha, oh boy, she has good hunting instinct as most kitties do, not much help there lol. I have many bird feeders and constantly have to be on a lookout for stray cats 😬. My neighbors probably have a good laugh seeing me chasing them around with water hose lol I LOVE cats, just not under my bird feeder ha ha. They come handy actually hunting for all kind of vermin around property, so I do not chase them very far away 😜.
Cute name, BTW 😺 <3 !!!
@mjp0512 Xgeva definitely a problem in the jaw. Consider Fortibone - collagen peptides which are the actual ‘scaffolding’ for bone growth.
You take one scoop per day and along with good Calcium, magnesium and Vit D3 supplements you will maintain and build new bone.
My wife has been on it for one year and is looking forward to her next bone density test. She is also a dentist and flatly refused any of the meds they trued to put her on. Best,
Phil
@heavyphil - Hi ya Phil... Thanks!! (and please extend that to your wife) I'm about 90% there to tell them to keep the Xgeva but since my GUO is highly regarded in his studies of bone mets, I need to give his opinion thorough consideration. To that end, my final decision will be after my dentist, who's expertise happens to be dental bone reconstruction, renders his opinion this Friday.

2 Reactions@surftohealth88 - I live in farm country so feral barn cats are prolific here. Great at keeping rodent populations under control but I stopped putting out bird feeders years ago. No sense in setting up a buffet for them.

1 Reaction@mjp0512 Funny you post this! Saw a Youtube video about this just last night: even a cat who just finished a huge meal can’t help him/herself from attacking the birds at a feeder. It’s just what the cat is hard wired to do…good move in not putting up feeders!
