What do you do for Neuropathy itch?
Good morning everyone. I am desperately in need of help with what is called Neuropathy itch. I have SFN (small fiber neuropathy) and am a medical cannabis user for pain. I don't know what to use for this itching. It appears that it reaches through several skin layers. No matter how much you scratch you make it worse, not better. Once you start itching, it's over....your are stuck scratching.
Have you tried certain baths? Oatmeal? I have a steroid cream called Triamcinolone Acetonide. Not exactly a wonder drug. Is there a better one?
The itching results in a terrible level of anxiety. I try to run away from it and cannot. It reminds me of summer in Minnesota when the mosquitoes launch their attacks. I am female with "O" negative blood which they just devour.
Even if you have a solution for other than neuropathy, please share and I will happily do the research. The stress of isolated living and a form of depression that is about our global community also creeps in.
The only thing that works right now for food is gelato.......Salted caramel, if you please. I hope you are all well and blessed with good health today.

I have neuropathy itch in my breast. My daughter nursed only in that side for three years and ever since then I’ve had itching. It’s been decades.
Where exactly are you having this itch? In feet or hands?
Wash your body daily and apply Salicilic.acid (OTC med)
over that part.
Take Gabapentin and ask for anti-gay depressant. Have seen a Dermatologist? Psoriasis? I do not know. Check it
out. There are so many new meds for Psoriasis today.
Good Luck.

3 ReactionsAnti-gay depressant, not anti-gay. The auto correction posts unwanted remarks. Sorry.

I do get an itchy skin frequently with my neuropathy on my legs and arms and have gotten a little relief with Dermeleve anti-itch creme. What treatments have you tried?
@jchet I have this too. I have been using just skin cream, but was at my dermatologist’s office yesterday for a skin biopsy for SFPN and asked her for a suggestion as it’s really “getting to me.” She sent in a pres. of 5 mg of Naltrexone. It’s a very small amount. It has to be compounded so only certain pharmacies do it. Ins. doesn’t cover it. 30 tabs will cost me around $70 (shipping included). It’s expensive, but I’m going to try it. If it helps it’ll be a big relief and worth it.
Good morning, I have been dealing with serious neuropathy now for some 7-8 yrs, I’m an 84 yr old male. My general health is excellent eg no medications etc. I have used Naltrexone on a number of occasions and found it to be 100% effective eg no itching whatsoever anywhere. Unfortunately you simply can’t live daily on Naltrexone for ever ??
@lorirenee1 Hello I also have neuropathic itching and by luck I found a cream that is absolutely awesome! The name is Dermeleve Cream. You can order from the website itself or Amazon. Good luck and let me know what you think.
