D.E.S. Daughter with an Autoimmune Disorder! Anyone else???

Posted by beesmom @beesmom, Oct 23, 2024

Recently I read an article about offspring of Mothers who were prescribed D.E.S. while pregnant were more prone to develop autoimmune disorders. Personally, I am a D.E.S. daughter with Anticardiophospholipid Syndrome. Was curious whether there were others in a similar situation.

I'm interested in everyone's stories here, and sorry for all of the illness you have been through. I'll take a chance and share that while I cannot know for certain (my mother refused to talk about medical issues, however she did tell me that she was 28 when she had me, because she was unable to get pregnant. Then "they gave me a hormone medicine" and I got pregnant right away. I was born in 1958.

My entire life has been about illness. I recognized many similarities with what I've been through and what is shared here. One thing I don't see is Polycystic Ovaries that prevented me from ever having children. From age 21 until 50 at menopause. I have hypermobile Ehlers Danlos, RA, Sjogrens Disease, Hashimotos thyroiditis. And last year I had the most difficult challenge trying to accept that I have an autoimmune illness, Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus that increases my risk of cervical or vulvar cancer. And it's a handful trying to cope with flares.

My mother died 10 years ago. I can never know for sure. The reality of my experience is all I have.
