How long were you Incontinent? How did it come back for you?
I realize this is different for most patients but I am fully incontinent after 3 weeks and often hear people say they didn't have the problem.
Can you offer a short sentence as to the length you experienced this and what came back first? I am able to hold some of it in the middle of the night long enough to get to the bathroom for a 1-2 second stream.
How did it come back for you?
Thanks in advance
Gary O.

I'm 4.5 months post RALP and I can finally go without a pad. It was a steady, gradual improvement. Kegels were the key for me, I believe.
I had surgery 17 months ago and am still incontinent. My early improvements were less leaking while seated, and then extremely slow, if any, improvements when I am moving.
About 4.5 months.
Gradual improvement till complete continence.
My husband did Kegel and pelvic floor exercise every day. Went to PT only once.
I am at 4 weeks post prostatectomy, still leaking if I sneeze, cough, squat, still filling my depends during the night- time, less during the day. I can go about 2 hours without having to urinate, using Vaseline on the opening. I continue to do Kegels as often as possible.
12 weeks. Control accelerated 10-12th week. I wore 1 pad per day as precaution at 12th week. I think small leaks may take a bit longer for extreme exercise.
18 day out from surgery. Finally got the all clear from my doctor. Close call...1 mm clear from margins! Yikes! 10 days out started doing Kegels (2-3 times a week). Now doing them 4-5 days a week, adding more reps and intensity (10 reps, repeated 3 times). Hope to continue building numbers and intensity.
My improvement is not a straight line. Some days use one pad during the day, other days I randomly leak all day. Most nights I'm only wetting pad lightly. Big improvement from first two weeks!
Two things different, after Kegel's I leak more and I have some mild pain in the Kegel area. Anyone else had this?
Thanks all, soldier on!!!

I’ve never had any pain with kegels, but it may just be because of what the surgeon got up to while he was in there - if he had to push a bunch of stuff around, that could leave you bruised and sore internally.
Leaking, though…I do leak a little spurt with every flex while standing upright. Right now, the only upright exercise my PT has me doing involves 15 reps per leg twice per day, so that’s 60 little spurts, and it does add up.
The entire underside area is sore most of the time, I don't sit on any wood chairs! : )
@midwestjulyguy - I did have a sore perineum, yes, and that lasted a couple of months, but only when sitting. It didn’t bother me to do kegels on my back or standing up.
