DJD83 here in response to @jowilliams: Your story resonates with me. In October 2019 at age 77 and newly widowed after a 40 year marriage-I was diagnosed with the same muscular invasive bladder cancer, and given no hometown option but immediate radical extraction. I immediately rejected the local surgeons, contacted Mayo Clinic, days later was warmly welcomed by Mayo Rochester Urology specialists. After two days of diligent examination, the staff confirmed my hopes: that I would qualify for the bladder preservation surgery protocol. There is more to the story to be shared at another time. But, the bottom line is that today - after following Mayo's protocol and a few years of treatments, I have been cancer free with a complete and fully functioning bladder. As I tell my friends "all the internal organs and equipment with which I was born and baptized." Now I spend most of my time with the purpose and passion to bring healing and hope to those who need it. That is one reason why I readily signed up with Mayo Connect! Blessings and Peace to those in need, DJD83 6/6/26
