Cervical Stenosis. Had surgery for this? How you managed afterward?

I was recently diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis.
I am going to have an operation in the coming weeks that involves , vertebrae fusion in my neck..Delicate long opération…..

I am interested to know anyone who had this operation and how managed after the surgery.

I will have my operation at the University Hospital in Sherbrooke Qc.

I live in Sherbrooke Quebec Canada

I was diagnosed with severe cervical stenosis and I’m afraid to do anything. I’m waiting for my doctor to review the CD from my MRI but she told me that I will probably need spine surgery. My balance is pretty bad. Has anyone else dealt with this? Are there things that you stopped doing until surgery? Anything you can tell me about your experience would be appreciated.

@jasmine1949 I have had two fusions on my neck most recently in January 20 26 . I have a diagnosis of residual cervical Myleopathy . As a result, my gait is extremely impaired, I have numbness in my hands fingers, and until the recent surgery, extreme pain in my neck. I probably waited too long before I got surgery which is why I may have this permanent damage but I would encourage you to act as quickly as possible of course based on recommendations from your doctors. Hopefully they can alleviate some of your symptoms and any pain you might have. Good luck to you I wish you all the best.

Hi-
I have just received a probable diagnosis of myelopathy and am in the process of getting a second opinion. I do have gait and balance issues. Did your surgery ultimately correct your problems?

@feygirrl my surgery actually made things worse but thats because I have adjacent segment disease or something like that. Above and below my fusion are pretty bad now. Guess the fusion looks good according to the surgeon but I have my doubts. This is just my experience and you shouldn't be thrown off by my comments. You could be in a completely different scenario then me.

Guess the fusion looks good according to the surgeon but I have my doubts. This is just my experience and you shouldn't be thrown off by my comments. You could be in a completely different scenario then me.
