I reported it along with three or four other women that I know of. I called Lilly who pleaded ignorance and then they took all my information and told me that they would send it to the FDA. Don't believe they will do anything. Lilly will now want to push Ozempic on us to lose the weight! lol
On a serious note, my doctor told me he was on the research team back in 2003 and they told him not to mention it because women wouldn't take it and "not enough of these women really gained weight, they're all in menopause". Now...if these were men gaining weight...!
I was on HRT and never had a dexa. I went off the HRT, moved to another state and that is when my compression fracture happened. The immediate drop in estrogen unmasked the genetic osteoporosis that I never knew was there. I never ever had belly fat through menopause or while on HRT.
I have been off Forteo now for three months; I feel like my old self energy-wise and while there is still a jelly roll around my once 27" waist, my stomach was flatter after the first month off that stuff. It moved the needle the tiniest bit in the right direction and while I'm grateful for the added density, I wish they'd tell about all the side effects.

Now that you are possibly done with Forteo what were your gains and side effects? What’s next? All the best
Good morning. I took Evenity for the entire prescribed year. I gained 7 lbs in the 3rd month. I'm grateful for the increased bone density, but after losing a whopping three inches, the last thing my middle needed was additional weight. I know how to diet, so it's discouraging to not get positive results. But, I've had a year without fracturing any bones!
@tricia225
I have also gained weight since starting my treatment back in March. At least4 kgs
@sue23 I came off Forteo after 17 months as I could no longer take the hazy and sluggish feeling. My doctor switched me to Prolia in 2024, 2x per year. My Dexa scan last month showed my spine completely out of osteoporosis and my femoral neck and hip back into osteopenia. My stomach went down a bit and with my renewed energy I kicked up my workouts and cut out dairy and most carbs, down 7 pounds.
Best of luck to you and don’t lose hope! Keep walking as it’s the best (plus strength training) for osteoporosis.

1 Reaction@tricia225 I shave gained 13 pounds at month 3 and have developed leg pain and shoulder pain.
@likestocanoe
There are enough patients taking these meds who have had weight gain like you describe but they all continue to “deny” that it’s a side effect. People who have always been 112 or so for 50 years gaining 7lbs or more should be taken more seriously …

3 ReactionsI am finishing 2 years of Tymlos next month.
There is no question that I’ve gained inches of flab in my midsection from the med . ) I had changed none of my routines other than starting the med) the flab /extra inches have increased some.
My doctor like others says it’s not from the med. I disagree.
Now I will need to figure out how to slim down. Hoping for good bone improvement on upcoming dexa!
